Malvern Autumn Show 2018

Posted by Charles Etchells on 2 October 2018

Our final visit of this year was to the Malvern Autumn Show, one of the most prestigious shows in the country. We were promised a family day out, with something for everyone and there was. Even the weather was kind, a wonderfully warm sunny autumn day. We marvelled at the giant vegetables, last year the world record, which had stood for 100 years was broken, for the largest cabbage and was broken again this year, by a cabbage grown from a seed saved from last years winner!  Sarah Champier, who had been a personal florist to the Prince of Wales,  advised what sort of plants to grow for an autumnal bouquet.  Advisor's from the R.H.S  were joined by Carol Klein and Joe Swift, who were on hand to answer questions and gave advice on all aspects of plant growing.    Each marquee was a joy, full of the most wonderful array of flowers and plants, the bulb market contained everything needed for a brilliant spring show as well as the latest “must have” varieties.

Outside in the extensive grounds were hundreds of stalls and outlets selling plants, crafts, clothes, plus everything you might need for the garden. A wonderful day out, once again the committee have done the members proud.
